texmod issue - the game loads, nothing gets modded
after googling and searching guru for over two hours, i finally decided to ask here, since i haven't found any working solution.
two computers. one runs mods with no problems at all, the second one loads gw via texmod but nothing is changed. the same version of texmod, the same mods - sent from the working machine to the other to exclude that it had a corrupted version. the faulty machine is running on win xp sp2, dx 9.0c with a video card that supports it perfectly (one of the mid-class geforces). it has avg antivir installed, but i've tried to add an exclusion for texmod in it, as well as completely disable the resident shield. gw multilaunch is used on both machines, but never along with texmod. i've tried to run the mods on three different copies of gw and the problem is the same. i have the post-processing effects checked in gw graphics options. pretty much everything is checked and adjusted on max/near max. the problem was first noted with 'cartography made easy: elona', but i've tried several other mods since then (other carto, dsc) and none works. the funniest thing - texmod perfectly worked a week ago. it just stopped loading into the memory, all of a sudden - it starts the game, but nothing gets modded. the only thing that changed since then is that i've installed heroes of might and magic v. any ideas what can i check and try or maybe you have solved a similar problem before? i've already gained legendary cartographer using texmod from the very beginning, i believe i can use it properly. it might be some trivial problem that i'm simply overlooking, but please don't ask if i'm sure i run it in package mode ;p Last edited by drkn; Feb 08, 2010 at 10:28 AM // 10:28.. |

I had the same problem with TexMod on my previous computer. Turned out my DirectX didnt support it, believe you need 9 or maybe even at least 10. Not sure if this could be your problem, but at least it was mine. Good luck!

This is an issue with one of the latest guild wars updates... it seems like the textures have changed... the TexMod packages will have to be remade...

If it worked fine before, it may have simply been an update that has glitched the process. Make sure to update using -image before running texmod.

This will probably help you. I posted this in another thread:

fixed.
it wasn't the case Ariena. running up registry booster helped. i've found earlier someone who said to clean up the registry and i've done it, but i checked only the main gw copy. it turned out that, after cleaning up, the registry set gw copy2 as the 'original' that was installed. texmod works fine with it now. so for further reference: try to clean up your registry and then run texmod with every copy of gw you may have. thanks for suggestions. |
